A New Substack About How Corn Is in Almost Everything In America, and How To Avoid It
Last week I wrote a post on Reddit’s r/cooking sub that seemed to gain a lot of traction entitled “The Dangers Of Having Corn Allergy In America”. For those who have a corn allergy, there was a sense of relief that there was someone else with the condition they, or someone they love, has.
For those of us in America a corn allergy is more limiting than unless you’ve done a whole lot of research on the subject, you would have no idea how completely corn pervades the American diet, and thus life.
Most items in the American supermarket contain corn, but in a convoluted word salad designed to obscure it’s pervasiveness.
Even items that one would never conceive corn being in actually do have corn in them, and because it is so obscured you’d never know.
That list of ingredients will be among the first articles written in this substack.
But not only was this a relief for those suffering a corn allergy, it also was a way for those people who were suffering from unknown symptoms to maybe find a commonality that possibly corn is the source of their discomfort.
Also, there were a lot of others who, while they themselves are not allergic, they were curious to find out more about the pervasiveness of corn in the American diet.
I will attempt to examine the issues of having a corn allergy, the fundamental things that one must do to avoid it, and examine the ways to avoid it.
Along the way, expect recipe’s and other ways of avoiding corn in your diet, along with stories about life living with this allergy, as well as other related stories. So sit back, relax, and enjoy these in your inbox at least 3 times a week.
